For many of us, we have had it drummed into us from an early age that we have to work hard to get what we want in life. We often feel proud when we work long hours and wear a badge of honour for pushing ourselves until the point of exhaustion. Social media is filled with advice such as ‘ You have to work hard to fulfil your dreams‘ or’ If you want to be successful, you need to work hard’.
But….what if this advice simply wasn’t true or was outdated?
Before you stop reading in shock, keep an open mind while I discuss further.
The Stream of Life
Many of you will be familiar with my adage of the stream in life. So, think about it. When you are working too hard, pushing yourself and forcing yourself to be motivated, you are upstream. You are struggling. Furthermore, your body will give you feedback in the form of negative emotions. Remember, nothing you want is upstream! When you work too hard you have forgotten one important thing – Life is meant to feel good to you. You are not meant to struggle!
Are you working too hard?
Working hard requires motivation. When you work too hard you are pushing upstream. You are forcing things to happen. How often do you work hard but it just FEELS HARD?
Remember, you have the best GPS guidance inside of you. If anything feels hard, you are going the wrong way and probably have the mindset that ‘ you need to work hard to get what you want‘
The Easier Way
There is a much easier way. Instead of working hard taking action, you make the choices you want in life by focussing your attention on them. This means:
- Tuning into your right to wellbeing ( you are meant to feel good and have everything you want)
- Focussing your attention on what you want ( not what you don’t want!)
- Feeling how great it will feel when you have what you want
- Let go of the struggle, chill out and allow it in!
Sounds too easy yes?
Most Life Coaching clients look at me as if I am mad when I ask them to give up the struggle. I ask them to give up searching endlessly for a new career on the internet or searching desperately for new clients. This is the hard outdated way. Nothing you want is upstream!
The truth is you are very powerful and you don’t need to work hard to get anything you want. Especially if it doesn’t feel good. Struggle is just counter productive!
When you let go of the struggle, and allow what you want into your life, you tap into the universes resources. You use the universe to get what you want. Your job is to sit back, relax and allow it to come to you.
I never work hard!
In my Life Coaching practice, whenever I feel myself struggling or trying to get something done, I just give up. I care about how I feel and don’t want to do anything that doesn’t feel good! I will go for a walk, take a nap or do anything that helps my vibration rise.
I will also soothe myself into a place of non- resistance.
When I do this, the following will happen:
- I feel better
- In my more relaxed state, I allow the universe to bring me ideas, clarity and inspiration. ( note, Inspiration not Motivation!)
- I start to feel the excitement of getting what I want. ( Using the law of attraction)
- The universe brings me what I want. This could be great clients, a new speaker engagement or more abundance.
I appreciate that this can be quite a radical change in thought processes for many of us. However, I promise you that you really don’t have to work hard and in fact, it is counter productive. Learning to ask for you want and trust it is coming to you will bring you everything you have always wanted ( and more), without the struggle. The only downside is that it will also feel amazing!
