With the new year nearly upon us, take a few minutes today to focus on the main or dominant emotions that you felt during 2017. Was your year filled with lots of positive emptions such as happiness, joy, satisfaction and contentment?
However, if your year was filled with negative emotions such as disappointment, hurt, sadness, guilt and regret, you may wish to do yourself a huge favour and free yourself from negative emotions in 2018.
We reach for familiar thoughts and feelings
Science shows we simply repeat over 88% of our thoughts each day. Therefore, every morning when you wake up, you simply reach in your mind for these old familiar thoughts. These thoughts then provide an linked emotion in your body. Therefore, if we don’t do anything to break these familiar thoughts,we will simply just carry all of our negative emotions with us into 2018, 2019 and even through the rest of our lives. Then we wonder why our lives never seem to change!
Think about it…..what feelings and beliefs have you simply been carrying around for years? What never seems to change in your life despite you trying so hard to make things different? It isn’t as difficult as you may think.
Many of us just simply don’t know how to care for ourselves. We don’t know that changing the way we feel can be as easy as making a decision to do so.
